There’s a Lot Riding on This
Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
NAN would like to share this great ride with you. Jason is a near and near friend of NAN and we’d like to share his message below. NAN is proud to be a sponsor of Jason and his Ride and hope you will too!
I am committed to raising $4,300 for cancer research by riding in the 2014 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). I am training now to ride the first weekend in August when I will join 5,800 cyclists in the 34th PMC, an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston. The team was started in honor of our friend’s child Jacob who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009. This year we ride in celebration of Jacob as he has reached the five year mark of being cancer free. Each year I ride in memory of my grandparents, Julien and Mildred Savoie. If they would have had been able to take advantage of the technology and treatments of today, they would probably still be with us. Unfortunately, this year we also lost a co-worker to this awful disease. We will be riding in the memory of one of the nicest people we have ever worked with, Gaye Zukauskas. Gaye was able to spend a few extra years with her family because of the care she received at DFCI. There is no doubt that money raised from the PMC helped give her those years. We ride for all of these people and for all of your loved ones that have suffered from the ugly disease called cancer. Some day they will find the ultimate cure. But until then, we ride on.
I hope I can count on your support
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single athletic event in the country, $414 million since 1980 and $39 million last year alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.
I’ve made a personal commitment to ride and raise $4,300. So I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal.
